I was born and raised in the Grand Rapids area and have lived here all of my life. I studied photography briefly at Northern Michigan University in Marquette, Michigan, but found that assigned tasks and special processing techniques aren’t really my thing. I haven't the patience. I’m much more interested in the capturing a moment in time. The taking of the photo is what I love best.
I walked away from photography after college and didn’t really get back into it until digital photography started to really hit its stride a few years ago. I worked mostly with a Sony point and shoot model until February, 2006 when I got a Canon Digital Rebel XT. Since February I’ve taken about 8,000 photos with my XT and I’m having the time of my life.
I love West Michigan and I get a kick out of showing my own unique perspective of it to the world. I take very few shots of the traditional symbols of the area, preferring instead to focus on the little details of our surroundings – things that you will rarely notice unless you stop for a moment to really look at what’s around you.
Wanna see? Many of my photos are available for viewing in my Flickr account.
Enjoy!
